According to the Arthritis Foundation website, RA is a systemic disease that can affect the entire body and is characterized by membrane inflammation that lines the joint. This causes pain, stiffness, warmth, redness and swelling.

Impotence and Smoking

Amy Norton reported in Reuters last April that in a study by researchers at the New England Research Institutes in Watertown, Massachusetts, it was determined that smoking and exposure to tobacco smoke were key risk factors in male impotency. Men who smoked or who were exposed to it had twice the rate of impotency as other men.

Arthritis

USA Today reported last September that by 2020, 60 million people will suffer from some form of arthritis. This projection was based on current data from the Arthritis Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC).

Some of the reasons for the projected increase is that the population is aging and there are more overweight and obese people than ever before.
